Select Delete cropped areas of pictures. This option removes the cropped picture data but note that if you delete the cropped picture data, you won't be able to restore it. Under Resolution, select Use default resolution.
Method 2
Insert your images instead of copying and pasting or dragging and dropping them onto the PowerPoint presentation.
Step 1
Make sure you are on the Insert tab. Click on Pictures, and on the drop-down, select This-Device.
Step 2
This will open the file explorer then you can navigate to where your pictures are, and you can select the picture you want to insert then click the insert button.
Method 3
When inserting images into your PowerPoint, try and insert images in the JPEG format. JPEG takes less space than PNG images. You can convert images from PNG format to JPEG format by doing the following:

Click on the 4 dots at the top then select Save as:
Step 2
After clicking Save-as, a window will open to input the name and format/type of your image.
Write the file name if you want to change it from the original, then click on the Save as type row and a drop-down list will pop up displaying multiple formats you can save your image as. Select .jpeg then click save.
The below image shows the difference in size between the same image but different formats, one is in the JPEG format and the other is in the PNG format. The JPEG is much smaller than the PNG, but they are both the same image.
Method 4
Compress Media Files (If your PowerPoint presentation has videos and audio files).
Step 1
Open the presentation that contains the audio or video files.
On the File tab, select Info, and then in the Multimedia section, select Compress Media
To specify the quality of the video, which in turn, determines the size of the video, select one of the following:
-
- Full HD (1080p) Save space while maintaining overall audio and video quality.
- HD (720p) Quality will be comparable to media that is streamed over the Internet.
- Standard (480p) Use when space is limited, such as when you are sending presentations via e-mail.
A progress bar will show up displaying what media is being compressed.
